Scientist/Senior Scientist, Pharmacology (Immuno-Oncology)

Zymeworks is seeking a scientist/senior scientist to join the Pharmacology team within the Translational Sciences group to assess the therapeutic potential of pipeline candidates in preclinical in vivo immuno-oncology experiments. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and highly motivated team responsible for supporting pipeline project advancement. The candidate will be challenged to design experiments, manage the execution of studies, and critically analyze results.

This position reports to a Principal Scientist, Pharmacology and will be based in Seattle, WA.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Represents the Pharmacology group within multidisciplinary project teams from hit-to-lead through preclinical development.
  • Oversees all aspects of designing, managing, coordinating, and analyzing in vivo immuno-oncology experiments to assess efficacy and establish PK/PD relationships.
  • Manages studies within internal facilities and at external contract research organizations (CROs).
  • Develops strategic plans of pharmacology experiments on immuno-oncology pipeline project teams in collaboration with project team.
  • Presents data from in vivo experiments both within the individual project team and to the Pharmacology departmental group.
  • Actively works to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships amongst employees, management and external partners.
  • Provides input into and champions/adheres to best practices and timelines.
  • Authors electronic lab notebook, reports, and contributes to writing sections of regulatory documents.
  • Provides leadership, mentorship and scientific/technical guidance to technical staff./li>

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment. Results-oriented.
  • Clear and effective oral communication and scientific/technical writing skills. Ability to present data at team meetings and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Strong motivation, attention to detail, and ability to think independently and fully integrate into a high achieving team environment.
  • Critical observation skills and strong statistical analysis capability.
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in immunology, pharmacology, cancer biology, or a related scientific discipline and a minimum of 3 to 5 years related experience.
  • Direct experience performing immuno-oncology in vivo experiments in syngeneic models and humanized mouse models.
  • Understanding and direct experience of ex vivo immune cell analysis by multi-color flow cytometry.
  • Experience initiating & designing operations/protocols in a new in vivo facility is desired.
